The fresh water of the Astico creek is the theme of this itinerary. Here the guide is the water and the name of the trail is “Sentiero dell’acqua” – the water trail -. It is a gorgeous thematic trail equipped with some informative posters about the near village of Carbonare and the little traditional village of Cùeli characterized by old houses and a specular ancient mill, the Cùel mill. Here, time has stopped. The fresh water of the creek, the beech trees and the conifers around us, the “Spèr” gorge we bike through, the waterfalls and the little village give us a new life dimension full of nature and history.

Turn-by-turn directions

In Carbonare, next to the crossing to Nosellari and the artisan zone, follow the little dirt road on the right of the SS350 provincial road and entering the woods toward the Astico creek. After a short stretch (ca 50 mt) turn to the left and go downhill to the creek and over the Sper bridge. After a short uphill, turn to the right, cross the creek and bike up on the left hand side of the creek until reaching the tiny Cùeli village. Here, take a break to admire the Cùel mill. On the way back take the same trail but once you get close to the Sper bridge, don’t cross it, keep biking downhill along the right hand side of the creek (do not do it in case of hard rain, floods or ice). Once you get to the final stretch, get off the bike and reach the area called  Pont dei Mirandoi. Take the left and in a short time you’ll get back to Carbonare.
