This is a difficult climb, adapted for people, who have trained and love the mountain paths. On the top, the beautiful of view compensates for the effort and a nice return path!

Do not despair! To reach this peak, 1.440 m of the Fortress Cherle, you need to climb up, to work hard. Take a breath and… go through the Astico valley, crossing the river and getting up with the MTB. You will reach a wild place, with endless wood, some chamois distracted from the bikers. At the end, you will reach the grazing lands of the Cherle. Here you can restore you and enjoy the amazing place! The grassland, the pasture and the fortress, the ruins, the signs of the grenades of the First word war. What a wonderful panorama!

Turn-by-turn directions

From the square of Carbonare (church – parking lot), turning at the left you will pass through the SS350 for 300 m until the place called Girardi. From here merge into the paved street, which starts from the little church and go ahead to the high Astico Valley. After the paved street (follow the road signage) and descend until the river. Overstep the bridge “Pont dela Sper” and go ahead passing through the dirty road on the wooded southeast side of the dosso (bump) Cherle, passing also through the ex-pasture Malga Grimen. Remaining on the dirty road, after a demanding ascent road you will reach the pasture Malga Seconde Poste. From here, turning on the right, passing by the Hotel Cherle, you will reach the peak of the bump (the fortress Forte Cherle) and from here descend through a comfortable panoramic street. Arrived to the dirty road of the Grimen turn at the left, go ahead, then turn on the right, and descend to the high Astico valley reaching the little village Cùeli.
