Emblematic path for the Pinè Plateau, leading with a climb of 1000m of difference in height at the suggestive and panoramic peak of Dosso di Costalta.
moderate
Distance 10.4 km
The Dosso di Costalta (1955 m) is an must for visitors of the plateau. The view from the top overlooking Lake Serraia is wonderful: you can admire the Brenta Dolomites in all their arched eastern flank, the Lagorai and the Dolomites to the east. The excursion involves a considerable difference in height but not a particular technical difficulty, as much of the itinerary takes place on a forest road. The way back is on the same outward route.
Author’s recommendation
Very suggestive route to be covered also on foot, as an alternative to the classic ascent from path 404. The "La Casara" bivouac (at 3/4 of the way) has tables, benches, a source of water and fire point, ideal for a well-deserved break. With favorable temperatures it is possible to climb up to 1955m of the Dosso di Costalta even at night.

- On paths and in narrow places, always pay attention to hikers and use common sense, slow down and stop if necessary A
- Always wear a helmet and do not underestimate the degree of difficulty of the route
- Take any waste with you
- Respect the speed limits and ride so that you are always in control of the bike
As you will imagine, the practicability of the itineraries in a mountain environment is strictly linked to the contingent conditions and therefore depends on natural phenomena, environmental changes and weather conditions. For this reason, the information contained in this sheet may have changed. Before leaving, find out about the status of the route by contacting the hut manager about your route, the mountain guides, the visitor centers of the natural parks and the tourist offices.

Costalta Mountain
Turn-by-turn directions
Go up from the hamlet of Fovi on a forest road following the indication for Casara. From the bivouac continue on 404 SAT path for 4 hairpin bends, on the fifth take the left path called "Senter dei Russi" and continue with ups and downs for about 1Km. Turn right to the saddle of Costalta and go up for "Prà dei Morbi" then continue in south-east direction between the lawn and larches where you can see the top with the metal cross. The difference in height is about 1000m, of course in the night and with the bike it's more challenging, great and panoramic also by foot.
