A round tour to discover the old farms of Capriana, witnesses of an intense rural life which is now coming back.
Below the town Capriana some ancient and partially abandoned farms are the witnesses of the intense rural life and the deep changes of the previous century. This itinerary goes on the ancient path which connected Maso Lio, Maso Ponte and Maso Rover. A panoramic and suggestive stretch of this trail goes along the wild creek Avisio to reach the ruins of Maso Ponte, located close to an ancient crossing way used to connect Capriana with the town Valfloriana which was swept away during the flood of 1966. At Maso Rover, a beautiful hamster of the town Capriana, more witnesses remind us to the story of these places: the little church built by the workers who were building the dam of Stramentizzo and the houses abandoned after the flood of 1966. Right here a small farm Fiordalisa has started again to grow horticultural and medical plants on terracing fields.
On the way it worth a look to Valfloriana town hamlets named Maso and Ischiazza, which peek out from the other slope of the mountain. They were abandoned during the flood of 1966 and never inhabited again. At Maso Rover the farm Fiordalisa deserves a visit (which need to be agreed with its owner Lisa Dotta - website fiordalisa.jimdo.com).
From Capriana go down to reach the main road S.S. 612 close to the ex-restaurant Miravalle and the crossroads to the farm Maso Lio. From here you can reach Maso Lio and then the place called Le Caneve. The road becomes here a path along the creek Avisio which goes to Maso Ponte and Maso Rover. From the fountain at Maso Rover follow the road on the left which brings back to Maso Lio and then Capriana. For a longer walk turn right at the fountain, go through Maso Rover, then go up, crossing the main street S.S. 612, to the hamlet Carbonare and then reach Capriana.
