Destination
Turn-by-turn directions
From the wonderfull lake Santo, where it is to be found also a typical restaurant with possibility of overnight stay, go down along the paved road that conduces to Cembra until you see a forest road (signs "baita forestale" Zise") that with an easy and short climb brings to a hut and in Zise locality. From here continue along the E5 path northwards (Cauria). The road, becomes more panoramic offering beautiful views on Valle dell'Adige and on the Sarentini mountains. Arrived at the beginning of a short climb, the itinerary continues on a funny path that with some easy up and down conduces in the beautiful basin where the Potzmauer mountain hut is located. From the hut in short you reach Potzmauer pass, where following the present singposts, you go down in Valda direction. After a rapid climb (indications for lake of Valda) with cemented stretches makes it easy to regain altitude until arriving in the biotope of lake Valda, where a long descent of about 4Km starts.
Ignore the crossroad with Zise/Lago Santo signpost and go on in Ponciach direction. At the next crossroad, along the paved road that goes down to the valley, climb again to reach the lawns with some lodges in Vegiose locality, from where with the latest short descent you arrive at the starting point near the Lago Santo mountain hut.
