Ammergau Alps Meditation Trail: 08. Stage – Hörnle - Oberammergau Passion Play Theatre

The route then descends for a short stretch before climbing again in the direction of the Hinteres Hörnle. Bear left at the next fork and follow the path to the Stierkopf at an approximately constant elevation. 

After rounding the Stierkopf, continue across mountain meadows, which will lead you slightly downhill to the edge of the forest. At the end of this descent, you will reach the crossroads at Drei Marken.

Follow the sign for Oberammergau via the Romanshöhe. Bear left at the next fork to pass a log cabin on the left of the path. Shortly afterwards, go straight on at a gate and remain on the same path until you reach the next fork, at which you descend down to the right. 

You now pass a clearing to your right-hand side before immediately descending very steeply down into the valley via a sunken path. When you arrive at the bottom, you will find yourself on Altherrenweg, on which you turn left to reach the Romanshöhe.

Your route continues downhill on an asphalt path. Leave this path at a bridge and turn right onto a trail running alongside a stream. Turn left into the next asphalt road, cross the bridge and continue into the village of Oberammergau.

From Warbergstraße, take the second street on the right into Furch to enter Theaterstraße. Follow the street around to the right for a brief stretch to arrive at the building housing the Passion Play Theatre.
