A wildly romantic, little-traveled tour in the Ammergau Alps Nature Park. The ascent takes place over the Kühalpenbach past several waterfalls.

Author’s recommendation

Since there is no hut on the tour, you are mostly alone and can enjoy the mountain idyll to the fullest.

Destination

Kienjoch (1953)

Turn-by-turn directions

From the hiking car park in Graswang you first head south and then along the Linder to the Gertrudiskapelle in the Dickelschwaig. Then follow the yellow signs that lead you into the Kühalpenbachtal, which is very refreshing in summer. Here you can marvel at a few hidden waterfalls. Follow the mountain stream uphill. You change the side of the stream several times; red dots are used for orientation. The next waypoint is the unmanaged Kuhalm Diensthütte at 1326m, where you come back to a wider gravel path.

Via "In den Gruben" and steep slopes you first reach the Geißensprüngkopf and then over a steep path to the Kienjoch with its summit cross.

The descent is the same as the ascent.
