The Laber is one of the most beautiful panoramic mountains in the German Alpine region. On this hike you can experience the fantastic view over the Ester Mountains, Karwendel, Wetterstein and the Wilder Kaiser yourself. With this panorama, the troubles of the ascent are quickly forgotten and the coffee on the terrace of the Laberhaus tastes twice as good.

Author’s recommendation

Long Thursday on the Laber in summer. Mountain railway operation until 11 p.m.

Turn-by-turn directions

The starting point for the hike is the car park at the WellenBerg adventure pool in Oberammergau. From here you walk past the valley station of the Laber mountain railway and continue on the signposted path over the Shartenköpfe. At the beginning, the trail meanders alternately through the mountain forest and open spaces before the view of the Graswang valley opens up. Height of the Schartenkopf (1636m) there are always wonderful views of the Graswang valley and the Zugspitze.

Continuing steadily upwards, you get to the Laber and the managed Laberhaus. Here it is worthwhile to linger a little longer on the terrace before taking the same route or taking the Laber mountain railway back to Oberammergau.

Our recommendation:

Never get lost again - we recommend the free app "Zugspitz Region" u. a. with GPX tracks for all tours in the region

Questions and answers

Question from SabiKo · August 02, 2022 · Community
ist der Weg mit Hund machbar ?

Answered by Gerhard Weber · August 02, 2022 · Community
