Below the Kofel, referred to by locals as the "Oberammergau Matterhorn", leave the village in a southerly direction heading for Weidmoos Moor/Graswang Valley.

Graswang Valley has some of the best snow of any of the cross country skiing areas in the Bavarian Alps. The sun is rarely in evidence between December and March. The river bed of the Ammer is dry in winter because its source springs collect in the Ettaler Mühlbach, the waters of which powered a sawmill at Ettal Abbey for almost 300 years.

Continue beneath the exposed South face of the Sonnenberg, which remains white only for a few days, even in winters with heavy snowfall, and go past the farmsteads in the hamlet of Rahm heading in the direction of Graswang.

The snow on the slopes opposite, however, remains until spring. From Graswang, the hike route takes you via Kohlbachweg in the wintery forest to the palace of King Ludwig II, from where you can return to Oberammergau by bus.

Nach der Tour wartet das Heißwasserbecken des Erlebnisbad WellenBerg in Oberammergau auf Ihren Besuch. Bei traumhafter Kulisse lässt es sich hier im 34Grad warmen Becken bestens entspannen.
