Welcome to Bad Urach!

If you want to get to know the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Swabian Alb from its best side, a visit to Bad Urach is the best way to do this. On the five new Premium “Grafensteige” hiking trails, explore nature at its best. Wild-romantic waterfalls and deep slopes and ravines, castle ruins and fascinating cliff faces characterize the hiking trails. If you want to tackle the steep climb of the Albtrauf, you will be rewarded at the top of the high plateau by extensive views into the valley and the surrounding elevations of the Swabian Alb.

The view of the waterfall from the sloping rock to the castle ruins Teck, Hohenneuffen and Hohenurach is worth the trip, not even taking into account the waterfalls along the way. Short, sporty and almost alpine, it is on the Hohenwittlingen trail with its castle ruins, the Wolfsschlucht gorge and the pathway following a trail below the mighty cliff faces. The Hohenurachsteig offers the best views of the city from above as well as the once magnificent fortress ruins of Hohenurach to marvel at. On the Hochbergsteig and the Seeburgsteig the upper Ermstal valley is best explored, either from a distance up high, or on the same level connected with a visit in the beautiful village of Seeburg with its “tuff- stone” houses.

Not only hiking is on offer in Bad Urach, if you like it romantic and cozy, the Fachwerkaltstadt with its houses from the Late Middle Age will immediately touch your heart. Anyone interested in culture and history will be well rewarded with visit to the beautiful and historical former Residenzschloss palace.
