Panorama Trail Schwarzatal - 4th stage Scheibe-Alsbach to Goldisthal - Thuringian Forest

You start your tour in the small, tranquil village of Scheibe-Alsbach. After a few steps you reach the first great viewpoint over the valley and the village. Shortly afterwards you will come across the Scheibe-Alsbach reservoir. 

Let's go - the mountain is calling! At Scheibe-Alsbach, the Schwarzatal valley also comes to an end. On the way to the highest point of the Panorama Trail, you will pass the Schwarzaquelle halfway to the Kammweg. After passing the "Weidmannsheil" lookout point, you reach the Rennsteig after a short but steep climb.

Now follow the Rennsteig in the direction of Limbach, past Siegmundsburg on to Friedrichshöhe. In Friedrichshöhe you leave the Rennsteig and re-enter the Schwarzatal. Passing the Flößerteich, you follow the Großen Langenbach to the well-known lower basin of the Pumpspeicherwerk Goldisthal. A small attraction awaits you here: at the westernmost point of the lower basin, where the path has a hairpin bend, you will see one of the many bridges of the new ICE high-speed line through the Thüringer Wald on your left. With a bit of luck, you will be able to catch one of the brief moments when a Sprinter train crosses the short Saubachbrücke at around 250 km/h and changes from one tunnel tube to the other. Acoustically, this is also a special experience.

The last section of the tour takes you to the end of the lower basin, past the Grubentalbrücke to the entrance to Goldisthal.
