Via the Schinderhannes cycle path, the former route of the Hunsrück railroad, you go from ZAP Emmelshausen to Pfalzfeld. There you turn left onto the state road and immediately left again in the direction of Nenzhäuserhof. You will soon reach the Pfalzfeld district. Afterwards, the bike route always leads downhill, past the market place Aldegundis to Damscheid. The route continues through the vineyards to Oberwesel/Rhine. The city of towers has a walkable city wall.

Passing the legendary Loreley ("I don't know what it means"), you will reach St. Goar via the cycle path along the Rhine. Visit Rheinfels Castle, the largest castle complex on the Middle Rhine and enjoy the magnificent view into the valley. Not for nothing was the Middle Rhine Valley recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Continue along the Rhine Cycle Path to Boppard, the pearl on the Rhine. The Hunsrück Railway will take you back on one of the steepest railroad lines in Germany.

The Hunsrückbahn can be used all day as a lift. Thus, the start is also possible from the Middle Rhine.

Author’s recommendation

The ride on the Hunsrück Railway is an experience. On the steepest railroad line in Germany without cogwheel drive, it goes back up to the Hunsrück.

Super Tour. Mache ich auf jeden Fall nochmal.
