cistercians, town history & art in the Museum Fürstenfeldbruck

From 1263 until 1803 the “white monks” of the Cistercian Order lived at Fürstenfeld Monastery. Therefore the museum focuses on the historey of the monastery. In the ample rooms of the former monastery brewery the spirituality and business acumen of the order as well as the relationship the convent had vis-à-vis its Wittelsbach rulers, are highlighted by using original objects and new media.

The museum’s section “Life in Bruck around 1900” gives an insight into the social history of the craftsmen class.

The archaeological collection of prehistory and early history presents traces which people have left in the district from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages on the basis of numerous finds, presentations and reconstruction drawings.

The museum offers a broad range of educational programs including guided tours and workshops for children and adults.

Due to its appealing changing exhibitions the museum has gained importance beyond regional borders.
