From the town limits of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the trail leads over flat meadows to Hammersbach. Due to the breathtaking view of the Alps, the tour of 8 km is a very special event in a great natural setting. The trail (classic and skating) - the use of which is free of charge - is prepared every day.

Turn-by-turn directions

The trail starts directly in the meadow next to the request stop of the Bayerischen Zugspitzbahn rack railway. From there, the trail runs in a westward direction parallel to the train tracks. After crossing two streets, the trail leads you to Degerlaine. You will have to cross one bridge before the trail then runs parallel to the Tegernauer Weg until you reach Hammersbach. The turning point for your route back to Garmisch-Partenkirchen is right before the Hammersbach stream, which is where you will also have access to the trails of Grainau, if there is enough snow.

Public transport

There is an hourly connection from München (Munich) to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Continue with the train of the Bayerischen Zugspitzbahn (request stop) or by Ski Bus. At weekends, in December and January, the Skiexpress of the DB (German Federal Railway) goes directly from München to the starting point of the Hausberg trails.

Getting there

Take the motorway A95 in the direction of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. At the end of the motorway near Eschenlohe continue on the state street B2 to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. After the Farchant Tunnel, follow the signs to Garmisch/Grainau/Zugspitze. Turn left at the traffic light at Marienplatz square (McDonalds is on the left side of the road), cross the intersection and then follow the street until you reach the Hausberg.

If you are coming from Innsbruck/Mittenwald on the state street B2, drive to the intersection at the Partenkirchen Town Hall (Rathauskreuzung). Turn left in the direction of Grainau/Zugspitze/Fernpass Reutte and follow the main street. When you reach the Alpspitzstraße intersection, turn left towards Hausberg Mountain.

On B23 (coming from Ehrwald/Tirol or Grainau/Zugspitze), turn right onto Gernackerstraße at the second intersection and follow that street. When you reach the Alpsitzstraße intersection, turn right towards Hausberg Mountain.

There is an extensive parking area at the base terminal of the Hausbergbahn cable car (P7).
