On this tour, you will first of all walk down the historic Ludwigstraße, which is the heart of Partenkirchen. The houses' facades are painted with traditional facade paintings, the so-called Lüftlmalereien, which are especially charming. On Sonnenbergstraße you will find cosy old farm houses with wooden gables and traditional balconies. The way will lead you out of Partenkirchen and over lush meadows and shady forests. In summer, you can see cows and horses grazing on the meadows. After one hour, you will reach the Pfeiffer-Alm, which is worth taking a break here to let your eyes wander across the mountain ranges of the Wetterstein and Zugspitze. In the east, you will see the majestic Sojern Mountains. This vista is one of the most popular panoramic views in the Bavarian Alps. No panoramic view has been filmed or photographed more often. Perhaps you will even discover Wamberg, the highest-altitude village with its own church in Germany. After one more hour traversed, you will have reached your destination. The Gschwandtnerbauer seems to be far away from the rest of the world: surrounded by forest and meadows with a fantastic view of the Wetterstein Mountains, it is far away from modern life and streets.
