Popular hiking tour on top of the german-austrian border region. Spectacular sights into Kleinwalsertal and Stillachtal and as far as Kempten.

Thanks to the convenient ascent and descent by cable car, this tour is a pure enjoyment on top. Still, you should be prepared for the nearly six kilometer climb to the Fellhorn. The trail between the peaks offers magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. Especially the Gottesackerplateau and Ifen fascinate with their exceptional geological forms. On weekends there is much oncoming traffic and rush on the summits to be expected in the two-country region.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the mountain station of Söllereckbahn we walk through a wooded area with a moderate increase to Sölleralpe. At the Alpe serpentines lead us to the ridge that leads to the Söllerkopf. Keeping to the right, we follow the well-trodden path to Schlappoldkopf and Fellhorn summit. Well-maintained stairs lead from there down to the summit station of Fellhornbahn. We continue straight on towards Kanzelwand. After two serpentines at the storage pond, the mountain railway station is reached which brings us down to Riezlern .

Getting there

Most routes from Germany lead to Ulm before carrying on along the A7. Take the Allgäu junction over a section of the A980 to the Waltenhofen junction, then take the 4- lane B19 via Sonthofen and Oberstdorf to Kleinwalsertal. From Austria (Vorarlberg) and Switzerland you reach the Kleinwalsertal via the Bregenzerwald (Hittisau) – Riedbergpass – Fischen – Oberstdorf. From Tyrol the fastest route is over the A7 to Kempten carrying on along the B19 direction Oberstdorf. A motorway vignette is not required to reach the valley.

Parking

A parking area (fee required) is located directly by the starting point.

Super Tour. Mit dem Lift zum Söllereck, dann erstmal knackig ansteigen. Das lohnt sich aber: Die Aussicht wird am Grat gefühlt mit jedem Schritt noch besser. Leider manchmal etwas überlaufen.
