The Gafadura Hut (1428 metres above sea level) of the Liechtenstein Alpine Club is a popular destination for evening excursions or leisurely half-day hikes. The ascent leads largely through shady forest.
The Gafadura hut is also the starting point for the long-distance hiking trail “Via Alpina” or for the ascent to the Drei Schwestern.
Four routes lead to the Gafadura Hut: An easy hike along the track (car-free) (Alternative route A) or the steeper marked mountain path from Planken. From the valley, extended, marked mountain paths lead to the Alpine Club’s popular hut: From Nendeln in 3 hours or on the long ascent from Schaanwald via Alpzinken and the Paula hut (not in operation) in 3 to 4 hours.
Alternative Routes A: Via the track from Planken to the Gafadura hut.
B: Via the hiking trail from Maurerberg to Schaanwald.
The short ascent to Sarojasattel is rewarded with a magnificent view across the Walgau and to Walserkamm. Long evenings on the hut terrace and the sunset behind the Alpstein are particularly attractive experiences.
