Impressed by the scenery, we walk on a pretty mountain trail along the ridge towards the Rappenstein (2222 m). From here, all the mountains of the Liechtenstein Alps are visible.

On narrow but convenient trails, we cross the steep ledges of the pastureland and hurry towards the Lawena cabins, where we can finally satisfy our hunger and quench our thirst. The Lawena Valley basin, at the foot of the massive northern edge of the Falknis, holds abundant and untouched mountain nature. Passing over the Rappenstein saddle, we can overlook the villages on both sides of the Rhine. From the Rappenstein, the view goes as far as the Glarner alps and the peaks of the Alpstein. Nature lovers will be delighted by the exceptional flora and geological diversity found at every turn.

Alternative A:

Starting at Sücka, the trail to Rappenstein is also accessible half way up, on the right side of the Samina Valley, via Alpelti and Gapfahl.

Alternative B:

Hikers follow the marked track (blue-white route) to the Falknis (distance: 4.4 kms / elevation difference: 830 m). This trail is for experienced hikers only (sure-footedness and head for heights is essential).
