The last and quite possibly the most enjoyable stage of the Mozart cycle path – initially along the turquoise-blue Berchtesgadener Ache river and, at the end, the delightful Hellbrunner Allee with its numerous castles. Make sure not to miss the Salzbergwerk Berchtesgaden salt mine and the trick fountains in Hellbrunn Palace!

Northbound from the Town Hall in Berchtesgaden – a steep descent to federal road 20 at the height of the salt mine – a short stretch on a federal road – turn right at the first bridge – then initially on the right bank and then along the left bank of the Berchesgadener Ache river to the entrance to Almbachklamm ravine – continue on the left bank to Marktschellenberg – go straight through the town, then onto the federal road as far as the state boundary – from here back onto the cycle path on the left to St. Leonhard (information point) – turn left onto the Gartenauer Str. – Grödig – go directly along the Almkanal canal through the town – after the motorway underpass, turn left onto the Sallwastlweg – in Eichet, take a sharp right and cycle between the fields to Anif – briefly turn right onto the Anifer country road to the right, straight after take a sharp left onto a narrow path which leads to the zoological garden Tiergarten Hellbrunn, into the castle grounds and then directly to Schloss Hellbrunn Palace – from here, there are many kilometres on the shady Hellbrunner Allee which takes us past a number of other castles until we reach the Akademiestraße – thereafter, side-roads until the Nonntaler Brücke bridge and the centre of the city of Mozart.

LG Georg
