This stage leads away from Chiemsee in a northerly direction towards Wasserburg, past Bavaria’s oldest nature protected area, the Eggstätt Hemhofer Seenplatte, the picturesque Amerang with its unusual museums, to Wasserburg am Inn with its impressive island location and historic city centre.
From Gstadt to Breitbrunn (the Chiemseerundweg circular route variant is possible) past the town hall and on the cycle path to Eggstätt. Cross Eggstätt and take a half-right towards Seeon; there, at the fork in front of the church, take a left towards Höslwang. Cycle past the Hartsee and on to the cycle path via Oberulsham and Gachensolden to Höslwang. In the town centre, turn left onto the Schönbrunnerstraße, then left again onto Ameranger Straße. It then goes slightly uphill to Obergebert, turn left there and then turn right at a solitary farmhouse and back onto the cycle path by the country road to Amerang. This ends in Meilham, there is then a short climb to Oberrattung and, if you look left, you can see Schloß Amerang Castle. Go through Amerang, passing the Automobil- und Bauernhofmuseum (automotive and farm museum) on your right. Turn right at the Alt-Rhodos Restaurant and take a side road to Asham. Once you get there, take a left through Hallfurt and then a right towards Stephanskirchen. In Unteröd, take a left towards Evenhausen. There, at the bakery, turn right and, after leaving Hebertsham, turn left to Fuchsthal. After Eichenlohe, turn left at the next junction through Wimpassing, keep right and, after the underpass, take a sharp right turn at the next intersection to Weiglham. There, turn sharp left and then the first option to turn off to the left to Babensham. Go past Brudersham and in Alt-Babensham go left onto the Alz-Inn cycle path. After Riepertsham, take two left turns to Penzing. At the entrance to the village, turn right towards Neudeck and cycle through the town of Neudeck. When you cross the federal road 304, you will already be able to see Wasserburg on your right. At the Gasthof ‘Huberwirt am Kellerberg’, you will be able to enjoy beautiful panoramic views. Continue along the cycle path down to Wasserburg, over the Innbrücke bridge to the historic town centre.
