At this stage, we start from Inzell towards Reit im Winkl. We then cycle between the mountains to Ruhpolding. Past the Chiemgau Arena, which has since developed to become an Olympic base, we then arrive at the mountain lakes of Lödensee, Mittersee and Weitsee. We cycle on to Seegatterl and Reit im Winkl. Now it is not much further to Kössen, this stage’s destination.
From the church in Niederachen/Inzell, we continue and take a half-right onto the Schmelzerstraße – at the junction, take the right fork into the Froschseerstraße. After a 2 km climb, we arrive in a high valley and can then see Lake Froschsee to the left. On the peak above the lake, we turn right onto the forest road to Infang/Ruhpolding. At all the intersections, we keep left towards Infang. At the Ruhpolding give way sign, we turn left and then immediately right onto the track towards Reit im Winkl. We actually circumnavigate the town of Ruhpolding to the south. We go along the White Traun river, cross the federal road and go past Waich to the Alpengasthof Fritz am Sand. Here, the cycle path branches off to the left, crosses the Traun and follows the forest road on the southern edge of the valley. At the biathlon centre and the ski jumps, we turn right, pass under federal road 305 and take the new cycle path which runs to the right of the road. At the Gasthof Seehaus, we switch to the left-hand side of the road and cycle along the banks of the picturesque Lake Forchensee. The cycle path remains to the left of the road until Lödensee, where it then curves to the left-hand side of the valley. We pass the lakes of Mittersee and Weitsee on the way to Seegatterl. The bike path stays on the left of the road, then crosses the left-hand side of the valley where it follows a 5 km long descent along the Lofer river. Thus, we reach the outskirts of Reit im Winkl. We cross the Blindauerstraße and go straight over the bus/coach parking area to the gravel road on the left bank of the Lofer. We continue towards the centre of Reit im Winkl, to the intersection with the Birnbacherstraße where we turn left and follow it to the northern slope side of the town. In a long left-hand bend, we leave the town centre and cycle to the right fork which goes steep uphill to Oberbichl. We pass by a golf course, can see the Golf Hotel on the left and then reach the asphalted Moserbergweg, which has a partially quite steep descent to Kössen. Several bends take us past many attractively-adorned farmhouses and lead us into the centre of Kössen.
