Playground in the city park, Görlitz
The ring-shaped facility is divided into two halves by the stream. On one side is the town (with references to the historic old town) and on the other side of the river is the countryside, the floodplain. Corresponding to this division, appropriate focal points of the game are set, which combine to form a meaningful whole. These individual, clearly recognisable buildings are connected by variously structured building silhouettes. If you look closely, you will certainly recognise one or the other building from Görlitz.
Various play facilities are integrated into the houses and house silhouettes. There is a climbing net, several crawling tunnels, a moving town hall clock, a blacksmith's anvil and many other details. At the river in the middle between town and country stands the already existing mill. This is the focus for playing with sand and water. These two materials can be moved and worked with through different conveying and transport possibilities within the mill. The river is laid out as a channel made of natural stone paving. Small dams are placed in the river bed, which can be operated by the children. With the sand, which can be moved from the mill to the riverbed via transport rails, the children can handle the water in a very free play. The water is drawn off by a swing pump, so the children have to "work" for the water fun. The water is first collected in a trough and from there it can either be channelled into the riverbed or skimmed off into a gutter system. The out-of-town swing combination was already realised in 2008 and consists of four single swings with two different heights and a bird's nest swing. The swings are designed to blend in with the appearance of the city. All the planned individual play facilities together result in a high density of play opportunities with a planned lack of clarity of the entire facility. This means that it is not possible to see all the possibilities at a glance and the incentive to go on a discovery tour is all the greater.
