Playground Uferstraße, Görlitz

The town gate with drawbridge is the entrance gate to the playground. The children reach the gate via an inclined platform, which is worked as a historical town gate silhouette and repeats characteristic features of the large fortified tower. The gate opens up play opportunities and play paths on the slope, creates vistas and hiding places. Role-playing games on the theme of "fortifications" become possible. The drawbridge also has a striking appearance, but its size is subordinate to the defence tower. The defence tower with its tunnel slide is a striking medieval fortification and its battlements make it easily recognisable from afar. It is the highlight of the playground and serves as a vantage point and playground. A ladder leads to the platform high above, from which a rapid descent down the attached tunnel slide is possible. The lower level invites you to hide and linger. With its striking appearance, the defence tower has a signal effect and gives the playground a special accent in the immediate vicinity of the existing Ochsensbastei. Differently arranged platforms provide a path along the play slope and to the defence tower. A small town house was placed in the slope area. This is where the town soldiers and the town captain live to rest after their strenuous day. To improve the quality of the stay, the existing natural stone border at the stone pendulum was equipped with seat pads. A stone pendulum is the special feature of the playground. With an erratic boulder attached to a special rope with a double-secured suspension, the effect of mass and gravity, time rhythm and weightlessness can be experienced. The natural stone can be set in motion and invites you to swing. Brave visitors can lie down under the stone and feel the swinging of the stone pendulum even with their eyes closed.

Two wooden call pillars are the special means of communication in the playground and are intended to make the physical phenomenon of sound and the transmission of sound waves clear to the children. Children can clearly understand the voice of their play partner at a distance of about fifteen metres. A loving atmosphere is to be created by the sheep made of wood. The thick wooden forms graze on the playground meadow and invite children to climb on them, sit on them or lie on them.
