Tips and hints
Follow now Peterstraße to the St. Peter’s Church, which is the town's landmark. Take a look at St. Peter´s Church and its awesome organ, the "Sun Organ". You can listen to the organ all year-round on Sundays and public holidays 12 o'clock (from April to October also on Tuesdays and Thursdays).
From St. Peter's Church you can reach the Old Town Bridge in a few minutes. Today this pedestrian bridge connects the two parts of the European City Görlitz/Zgorzelec on historical ground and is a symbol for the two cities growing together.
If you walk along the Neissstraße, the 900 year-old trading route VIA REGIA, you can see the Barockhaus on the left-hand side. Next to it, you will find the Biblical House with its beautiful front.
Via Weberstraße you will reach the Bäckerstraße, which is located close to the Klosterplatz. The eye-catching building was a monastery, but today it is a part of the Augustum-Annen-Gymnasium. The Elisabethstraße can be reached via Klosterstraße. The Elisabethstraße connects the old town and the city centre of Görlitz. Follow the Elisabethstraße to the Marienplatz. Here you can find the "Dicker Turm", waterworks and the Senckenberg Museum of Natural History. Lots of seats invite you to relax.
You can reach the last point of the city tour if you go along Steinstraße. The Obermarkt is one of the largest and most beautiful squares in Görlitz. The VIA REGIA also crossed this square. Today many hotels, restaurants, cafés and the Görlitz-Information are located around the Obermarkt. The tour through the old town ends here.
Public-transport-friendlyTake tram line 1 or 2 to reach the Demianiplatz stop. Cross Marienplatz and Obermarkt. The Görlitz-Information is located at the end of the Obermarkt beside the Heroldbrunnen.
