Bocca d’Ardole - Corno della Paura - Monte Vignola
The hike starts at Polsa campsite and continues through the pastures of Malga Susine, then to Bocca d’Ardole. Here, the view of Vallagarina and of the village of Avio dominated by the FAI Medieval castle is priceless.
With a short detour, you can visit the military tunnels dug in the rock walls of Corno della Paura to then reach the artillery at the peak. Then pick the route back up along the military road overhanging the Valle dell’Adige till you reach Monte Vignola and its Austrian fortresses. It’s an easy, downhill return toward Polsa di Brentonico. A loop route, free of particular difficulties, therefore suitable for anyone.
In Spring look for the small gems hidden in the fields, such as the red lily, the blue gentians and orchids that enlighten the landscape with their colors. Along the path you can see also some green bushes such as the rhododendron and the blueberry. On the highest rocks you may be lucky to find one of the rarest flowers of this mountain, the silver geranium.
