The Vallgarina was once a border land, here many battles were fought during the Frist World War and there are many testimonies left on the territory that still remind us of these events. In Rovereto, in the castle, you can find the Italian War History Museum, founded in 1921, where you can discover objects and photographs, weapons, uniforms, trench warfare materials, documents and posters in one of the main Italian institutions dedicated to the First War world.
Also in Lessinia you can find some signs of the passage of history: at the Busoni site a network of military galleries leads to sighting posts from where the valley could be controlled and defended.

Turn-by-turn directions

The itinerary takes place mostly on an easy dirt road, starting from the parking lot near the playground of the S. Michele Village. From here clear indications lead to the site of the Busoni. Arriving at the entrances, the route goes back and climbs steadily towards Monte Corno, then descends slightly through the meadows until it reaches the entrance to the forest, on the path that leads to the Passo della Morte. Here it is advisable to cover only the stretch that is well protected with handrails and metal cords. It can also be faced with children, adopting normal attitudes of prudence, how to keep them close and under control. After a first characteristic passage under rock the ledge widens considerably and from here it becomes easy to admire the view. You then return back to the large lawn to go down on the right along the mule track and then the path that leads to Malga Fratte and then on a dirt road back to Villaggio S. Michele.
