The northernmost and highest peak in the Monte Baldo is the Monte Altissimo. From there you can enjoy an enchanting view of the lake, Adamello and Dolomiti of the Brenta.

Impressive hiking on a dirt road military resistance. Many hairpin bring to the summit of Monte Altissimo with a fantastic panorama, which in good visibility, not only the high level of Brentonico , but also the surroundings of the lake and the lime walls of the Brenta, the glacial mountains of the Adamello and Presanella includes the west. Climbing up in an alpine environment can be seen to develop a unique flora. Some European species only grow here. It is famous of the Five Hundred. On the top you can see the remains of the First World War through the trenches, howitzer and military resistance bunker look. The Rif. D. Chiesa will reward the effort of the climb. Trail suitable for everyone because it is not so difficult.

Author’s recommendation

The entire mule track that climbs from Rifugio Graziani to the Altissimo is exposed to the sun and on a sunny side. In summer it is recommended to tackle the path in the coolest hours and to leave with a little water for the excursion. You can shorten the climb by taking a path at the third bend of the mule track that quickly leads to the summit. It is advisable to return from path 622 and 650, or to make the ascent from 651 and return from 650 and 633.
