The climb begins at the Pieve di Avio and for the first 2 km alternates rather steep stretches with stretches on a slight slope. After the first bend the slope becomes more regular for about 8km (average 9% with peaks of 12%). At km 10, another stretch of a few hundred meters leading to the artificial lake of Prà della Stua. After a short, very steep section, you come out of the narrow valley of the Aviana stream and begin the last 4 km of the climb which are very easy to pedal (slopes 6 - 7%) which wind through the meadows used for grazing. After more than 15 km of ascent and 1150mt of difference in height, you arrive at Passo San Valentino where you can finally catch your breath.

The descent can be done from the same path.
