San Bernardino - San Bernardino Pass

A wonderful tour if you don't want it to be too hard or too long. The climb leads steadily and gently up to the San Bernardino Pass via the little-used old pass road. After a short stretch of road that leads away from the road to the right at the top of the pass and where you can't avoid dismounting at times - the reward follows, and not too briefly! On a single trail, some of which is wonderfully flowing, you descend through the high valley of Alp Montagna in the direction of Pian Cales to Alpe Pian Doss. This is the perfect place to end the tour with a glass of wine and/or a fine plate of regional specialities. The last stretch descends within a few minutes via Lagh de Pian Doss, an idyllic bathing lake, on roads and trails back to San Bernardino. From the San Bernadino Pass, the tour is a section of the officially signposted Route 640 Mesolcina, which can be continued from San Bernardino even further along the Misox (Mesolcina) valley.
