The rugged rock faces of the steep northern slopes descending to the Lenne Valley are the kingdom of mosses and ferns. Although the locations of the rare Hart's-tongue Fern are only known to local experts, Wall Ferns and the magnificent fronds of the Hard Shield Fern can be easily seen beside the valley road along the railway line. The Eagle Owl habitually roosts in the vicinity of the cliffs during the daytime.
