Equipped with a WebparkSNP digital guide and the Children's Trail booklet with audio CD, you can enjoy a hike from car park 1 at Ova Spin (Champlönch Postauto bus stop) to Il Fuorn (Hiking Route 12/13). At ten locations along the trail, you will hear an acoustic signal, at which point a figure or an animal will appear on the display and tell an interesting story directly associated with the surroundings.

For example, if you see a woodpecker hole in a tree, but not the bird, the woodpeckers are depicted in the book and an audio text explains their habits. The aim is to make visitors even more aware of the natural surroundings. You can also take a journey back in time and experience, for example, what Alp Grimmels looked like before the National Park was established. We kindly request you to return the Webpark guide to the National Park Visitor Centre; you are, however, welcome to keep the booklet and CD, so that you can relive your experiences once you have returned home.
Starting from car park P1, you first climb up a steepish, well-prepared hiking trail, through fragant mountain pine forests, and then follow a wider path through colourful flower meadows to the long and narrow Alp Champlönch. The former route crossed the Ofen Pass here, before the road took on its current route in the 19th century. The trail now passes a little marshy pool, into which several springs flow and where dragonflies can often be seen dancing above the water or frogs hopping across the path. A little further east, deer regularly wallow near to the path; at least, the ground at the edge of the black, peaty waterhole is certainly churned up by hooves. To the east of the Champlöntsch meadow, with its forested flanks, take the route to Il Fuorn where the trail forks off. As you pass through the little cleft between the forests which rise up on either side, you will see the sheer walls of the Val Chavagl, the Munt la Schera and Piz Daint, the last of which lies outside the National Park. The route descends on a winding path through the forest of mountain pines, dotted with heather and Alpine roses. It is well worth taking a look down into the steep Val Ftur valley from the bridge over the Ova da Val Ftur stream, as well as to the south in the direction of the foothills of Piz Laschadurella. During the summer, you can see deer and chamois on the patches of grass here, and you are constantly accompanied by forest birds, such as treecreepers, robins, mistle thrushes and tits. After climbing gently, the route is almost flat through the God sur il Fuorn, passing a tiny plateau at Plan Posa, from which a little spur projects. This area is the birthplace of phytosociology, as it is where, in the decade when the National Park was founded, the founder of this science, Josias Braun-Blanquet, developed the method of classifying a plant community using the scientific name of its most characteristic species. After crossing an impressive avalanche tongue and mudflows, to the north of the trail you will find a restored limestone kiln, in which limestone was burnt to make lime in the 19th century. The path then leads across a wide area of scree and the meadows of the Ofenberggut, where chamois are often seen grazing. Finally, you reach the Hotel il Fuorn, where you can catch the Postauto back to your starting point.
