Der Standort der Mödlingerhütte ist an Rundumsicht kaum zu überbieten: elegant am langen Rücken der Treffneralm gelegen, bietet die Hütte gleich mehrere Zustiege: von Johnsbach, von Gaishorn über eine Mautstraße und von Admont über die Klinkehütte.

Der klassische Anstieg führt von Johnsbach in 2,5 Stunden hinauf. Der Übergang zur Oberst Klinke Hütte ist in 2 Stunden gehbar und für ganz Schnelle führt von Gaishorn im Paltental aus eine Mautstraße weit hinauf. 30 Minuten Restgehzeit.
