For sun lovers we recommend the sunny cross-country trail on the Birnberg plateau. Dense spruce forests followed by clearings and meadows, intact nature and silence await the connoisseur. - IMPORTANT: The trails are only groomed when there is sufficient natural snow!

Safety information

Safety on the mountainside: changes in the weather, sudden fall in temperature, thunder storms, wind, fog and snow fields are all objective dangers and require the correct behaviour whilst underway. the landlords of the huts are all very knowledgeable about the mountains and can give you good tips about the weather and the routes. Insufficient equipment, exaggerated opinion of ones capabilities, frivolousness, poor health condition and a false evaluation of the situation can lead to a critical situation. In thunder storms: summits, crest-sites and safety rope aids are to be avoided.

Turn-by-turn directions

Starting from the Grundnerhof on the Birnberg in an easterly direction to the turnaround loop near the Pircher/Forsterhof. From there back towards the center of the village. Continue behind the farms to Birnberg West. Here, too, return to the village of Birnberg via the reversal loop. - IMPORTANT: Cross-country skiing only possible with sufficient natural snow!
