Myths, adventures and scary stories entwine around the impressive landmark of Eastern Styria. Riegersburg Castle, which could never be conquered during the centuries of its existence, was once considered the strongest fortress of the Occident. Today it is a popular destination for excursions. Perched on the towering basalt rock of a former volcano, it offers a magnificent view over the surrounding rolling hills with their forests, vineyards, meadows and fields. All this and much more can be discovered on the historical Riegersburg circular route. The Riegersburg is not only worth seeing from the outside, inside there are several exhibitions or museums, such as the witch museum. Adventurous people can climb the path on the basalt rocks themselves. This experience is not only insanely exciting, but also unique in Austria!
