This tour starts at the MEZ shopping center in Gröbming and leads to Winkl, where you begin a steep climb through the impressive “Öfen”, a rocky canyon up through which leads a beautiful forestry road with 5 wooden bridges. You will forget the exertion when you gaze on the beautiful surroundings. After 12 km you will reach the highest point of the tour, now able to coast down to the Viehbergalm. From this point, always gently downhill. After ca. 3 km past the Miesbodensee, a lake well worth the detour. Now through beautiful alpine pastures and forests down to the Salza reservoir. When you see the narrow road, it’s hard to imagine cars used to drive here. Now past the Goaß-Hittn to Neuhofen, Krungl and finally Tauplitz, where the final descent of this tour awaits. The R19 brings you from Klachau down to Untergrimming and Trautenfels. The last 20 km are on the R7 back to Gröbming.
