Cross the street from Bahnschranken and go up into the village past some houses. After the right-hand bend, continue approx. 50m left and up a forest road to the Stuttern mountain. Turn right at the hunting cabin on path no. 682.

Go up through the beech forest (large rocks). Afterwards, go to the Jausengrube junction. A climb to the Grimming Tor would be feasible there but extremely dangerous (gravel climb, danger of falling rocks, snow).

At the foot of the Grimming Tor, the path leads uphill and downhill along the Grimming southern slope. Next, there is a subsequent climb to the Grimming wandering path (no. 681). From there, you go downhill to the Grimming cabin. From here, follow path no. 20 towards Niederstuttern or path no. 681 downhill to the Trautenfels Palace.
