The Josefinensteig runs west of the Hesshütte through a mountain pine belt and a scree pass. Ascent via the partially secured south-east ridge. Sure-footedness and mountain experience are absolutely necessary!

The Hochtor is the highest point of the Gesaeuse mountains and conquering this majesty is the goal of many mountaineers. However, one should be absolutely sure-footed and free from giddiness and also be in good physical condition.
RECOMMENDATION: with mountain guide
possibly stay overnight in the Hess hut and start freshly rested in the morning
