The Gaiswinkl circular trail starts below the rural settlement area, at the war memorial in Gaiswinkl, which was renovated in 2014, leads through the village and past the Dona, Stöckl, Thoman and Kriag farms. Passing through the "Wiesen", you finally cross the so-called Mühlbach and after crossing a wooded area you come to the "Polly Hut", where you meet the "Via Artis".A small asphalt road ultimately leads back to the starting point.

Book recommendation by the author

A folder for the circular route is available at the Grundlsee information office.

Author’s map recommendations

Mayr "Wandern, Rad und Mountainbike Ausseerland Totes Gebirge" 1 : 25.000

Freytag & Berndt "082 Bad Aussee, Totes Gebirge, Bad Mitterndorf, Tauplitz" 1 : 50.000

Equipment

Proper backpacking makes many things easier: pack heavy things first. The water bottle should always be within easy reach in a side pocket. All things that are often needed, such as sunglasses, camera or hiking map, belong on top. An emergency kit including blister plaster belongs in every backpack and a clothing according to the "onion system" is always recommended!
