Der Aufstieg von Johnsbach ist der Klassiker, aber auch mit gut 20 km und 2100 Hm der weiteste Weg.
The ascent over the Hüpflingerhals is marked with poles and arrows. When you reach the Lugauer Plan, you still have about 600 m to climb to the summit.
On the Plan, keep to the right. At the end, the Lugauer Plan becomes even steeper. Here you should also watch out for avalanches

Turn-by-turn directions
Am Beginn der Forststraße und abschnittsweise im Bereich der Klamm ist mit aperen Stellen zu rechnen, die bei der späteren Abfahrt unnötige Kratzer auf der Skilauffläche verursachen können. Zuerst folgst du der Forststraße durch die berühmte und sehenswerte Ebner- oder Teufelsklamm. Hinter der Klamm führt die Strecke über die Rodelbahn , bald biegen wir Links ab und es geht abwechselnd durch den Wald und auf Forststraßen mit Wintermarkierungen versehenen geht es über die Pfarralm, die Schröckalm und die Neuburgalm Richting Hüpfingerhals.
Weiter bergauf geht es über den Hüpfingerhals um danch kurz abzufahren. Über das Heaselkar geht es dann zum Fuß der Lugauerplan. Über diese große Westflanke führt uns der weitere Aufstieg zum Skidepot
Über einen schmalen, ausgesetzten Grat geht es zum Gipfelkreuz.
Die Abfahrt erfolgt über die Aufstiegsroute.
Respektiere die Regeln des Naturschutzes und schütze die sensible Natur im Nationalpark Gesäuse!
Achtung: Bitte NICHT direkt über den Haselkogel, da dort eine Wildruhezoge ist.

Getting there
A9 Phyrnautobahn to exit Ardning/Admont and from there past Frauenberg, approx. 10 km to Admont. Via the B146 (Gesäuse Bundesstraße) from the west into the Gesäuse.Or via Leoben, Vordernberg and Eisenerz to Hieflau and from there via B146 in a westerly direction into the Gesäuse.
A1 Westautobahn to exit Ybbs and from there south through Scheibbs, Lunz am See, Göstling an der Ybbs and Palfau to Hieflau. From there take the B146 in a westerly direction to the Gesäuse.
In the National Park there is only one intersection worth mentioning, namely the one into the Johnsbachtal (coming from Admont after approx. 11 km and coming from Hieflau after approx. 15 km). Follow this road (L743) about 10 km into the valley. Go through Johnsbach past the famous Kölbwirt inn until you reach the Ebnerklamm car park (with information boards) on the left.
