The Alpine Path of Dobbiaco/Toblach is a very strenuous hike and only suitable for hikers with endurance. This alpine trail offers a wonderful view of the Dolomites and the Hohe Tauern. The Rifugio Bonner/Bonnerhütte, the Malga Steinberg/Steinbergalm and the Malga San Silvestro/Silvesteralm invite you to a rest.

The tour can also be made as a 2-day trip with overnight stay in the Rifugio Bonner/Bonnerhütte.

Turn-by-turn directions

The hike begins in San Silvestro/Wahlen and leads from there to the village of Franadega/Frondeigen. The trail no. 24 leads first in the middle of the forest and later across fields to the summitcross of the Monte Calvo/Golfen. Here the most of the heigh meters have already been done. From there, the route continues to the Corno Alto/Hochhorn and the Gaishörndl. The path goes on to the Corno Fana/Pfannhorn, which is the highest peak of the tour. In east direction, along the national border between Italy and Austria, the summits of Blankenstein and the Cornetto di Confine/Marchkinkele still lie before, the mountain trail descend begins. Through the Blankental with the Malga Steinberg/Steinbergalm and the Valle San Silvestro/Silvestertal with the Malga San Silvestro/Silvesteralm, the route no. 1 leads back to the starting point.

Getting there

Coming from Villabassa turn left at the traffic light and go in the direction of the church. There go straight to San Silvestro.

Coming from San Candido turn right at the traffic light and go in the direction of the church. There go straight to San Silvestro.

Coming from Cortina enter in the directon of Dobbiaco Nuova (Via Dolomiti) and go at the traffic light straight and go in the direction of the church. There go straight to San Silvestro.
