Beautifully situated on the Fallatschkamm ridge between the Stilfserjoch ridge and Val Müstair/Münstertal valley, the Piz Chavalatsch mountain (2,763 m) offers one of the best viewpoints in all of the Vinschgau/Val Venosta valley. The tour that leads to Piz Chavalatsch is very popular and highly recommended, as it is both one of the easiest and most beautiful: it is a rewarding mountain hike that presents no real difficulties worth mentioning. Next to the summit cross is a former Italian customs hut that now serves as a relay station for amateur radio enthusiasts in the Vinschgau valley. The trails are very gentle and there are no exposed or difficult sections. Because the described route is on the sunny side, ascending during the hottest part of the day should perhaps be avoided.
Getting thereFrom Spondinig/Spondigna via Stilfserjoch pass road SS 38 to Gomagoi, then right to Sulden/Solda.
Just before the village of Stilfs/Stelvio, a mountain road leads left to the Stilfser Berghöfe farms (follow the signs for “Fragges”). It is approx. 12 km to Fragges.
