There have been people on the mountainsides above the valley floor at Racines/Ratschings since time immemorial, with permanent settlements believed to have been established in the 6th century. Telves, part of the municipality of Racines, was the first village in this region to be mentioned in official records as far back as the 9th century. It was not only farming that brought people here: for many hundreds of years mining was the main industry. Along this Alpine farm hike at Telves there are information panels explaining all about the area's mining heritage, and the route also passes the Widows' Fountain (Witwenbrunnen), a spring whose name comes from an old legend. It is in this sunny spot (refreshments available) or, to be more accurate, at the club house (Vereinshaus) in Telves di Sopra/Obertelfes, that the Telves Alpine farm hike begins. On easy trails (marked no. 5) you climb gently for about an hour up to the first Alpine farm, the Freundalm (refreshments available). The hike continues up on trail no. 5, and then no. 6, to the Ochsenalm (refreshments available). From there, quite a flat trail leads eastwards and in a few minutes you reach the Kuhalm (Kuhbergalm, refreshments available). Descend on trail no. 5B as far as just below the Freundalm where it meets the trail you climbed upon, which you now follow back to Telves di Sopra.

Der weg führt weitestgehend auf geschotterten Forstwegen. Schöne Aussicht vom Höhenweg. Eine Einkehr in der Freundhütte ist zu Empfehlen.
