It is a wonderful hike, the one that leads via the Burg and Ochsentodweg to Thurnstein Castle and further to Tirol Castle.
You can already feel the Mediterranean climate here.
This hike is also suitable for families.

Turn-by-turn directions

The Burgweg begins at the valley terminal of the Vellau lift facilities in Mitterplars and crosses the Grabbach after a slight ascent, leading you to the Blumenthalerhof.
After the surfaced Ochsentodweg, the path runs almost flat to Castle Thurnstein and ascends via St. Peter to Castle Tyrol. 
Return journey: steep descent via the Brunnenburg or via Dorf Tirol (Gnaidweg) to Gratsch, Algund.

Getting there

Via the Adige Valley, take the MeBo expressway to the Algund exit.
Coming from Vinschgau, Algund is just before Merano.
