This scenic and interesting walk leads from the centre of Brixen/Bressanone to the Neustift Monastery, one of the largest abbeys in South Tyrol. With its cloister and important library, the monastery complex of the Augustinian canons is most certainly worth a visit.

Turn-by-turn directions

Start at the Adlerbrücke bridge in the old town of Brixen (561 m) and follow trail no. 16 north on the left side of the Eisack river. Then take Cesare-Battisti-Straße street into the Kranebitt town quarter. Cross the road and pass a residential area before entering the meadows and orchards. Continue walking along the bank of the Eisack before reaching the underpass of the old Pustertaler Straße road. Turn left and follow the road to the Neustift Monastery (595 m). To return, take trail no. 16 back to the starting point.

Ich habe diese Strecke mit einer Gruppe von Kindern im Alter zwischen 9 und 14 Jahren gemacht. Die Strecke ist einfach aber sehr schön und auch mit Kindern gut machbar. Unterwegs gibt es die Möglichkeit zu rasten, auch ein größerer Spielplatz liegt auf der Strecke. Die barocke Kirche ist sehr schön.
