Past apple orchards and through wonderfully refreshing forests, this hike is a cool and shady hiking alternative to the dry and hot Sonnenberg side. (Sonnenberger Panoramaweg hiking trail). The highlight of this hike is the romantic Dornsberg Castle near Naturns/Naturno.

Author’s recommendation

  • Attention! There are no refreshment stops along the way!
  • Farm shop Biohof Niedereben (sale of bacon, salami, "Kaminwurzen", cooked herb ham, "coppa", bacon, fruit and vegetables) / opening hours by telephone agreement at
    +39 340 491 4072.
  • Those who would like to walk a little further can extend the hike via the "JesusBesinnungsweg" (moderately difficult themed hike of approx. 2 hours). The entrance is directly at the end of the Rittersteig in Naturno.

From the train station in Rabland, follow the road on the left, uphill for a short, steep climb to the organic farm Niedereben (634 m). Entry into path no. 25, downhill through the forest to the road, turn left and again enter hiking path no. 25 in the direction of Plaus. It goes past apple orchards and through the forest along the "Alpine-Well-Fit-Parcours", a "fitness path" with exercises to strengthen and relax. The course ends at the romantic Dornsberg Castle (13th century). Follow the road briefly towards Naturns, turn left and enter the "Rittersteig" (path no. 1). The Rittersteig leads comfortably through the forest to the sports field in Naturns.
