From Varna|Vahrn to the Vahrner See Lake

From the parking lot in Varna (671m) take trail no. 1 on Dorfstraße valley street, ascending to Kastaniensiedlung settlement (675 m, indications). After the settlement, a farm track leads northward through fields, then through the forest, past the Gasthof Zum See inn to the Vahrner See lake (678m). Circling the lake, trail no. 1 leads south to the road. There you follow the freeway and rail underpass, slightly ascending to Staatsstraße street, which needs to be crossed. On the opposite side, trail no. 1 leads to a house and then right through orchards, then climbs through the forest past Vorderriggerhof farm to the valley bottom. After the bridge over the Eisack river, follow Riggertalstraße street to Novacella (595m, visit to the Novacella monastery). Trail no. 9 leads over the new bridge, then climbs westward through the vineyard past Griesserhof (tavern) to Varna. After the crossroad at Staatsstraße through the underpass, you reach the parking lot at the starting point.
