Turn-by-turn directions
At the roundabout follow the road in the direction of Umes, tail n. 1. Opposite Hotel Heubad the road branches off to the left. Here leave the road and soon enter the open countryside, through the beautifully situated south-west-facing meadow of (upper) Fiè up to Zimmerlehen Residence (958 m). Built as a noble residence in the 13th century, this property was bought around 1585 by the lords of Hühebach, who gave it its present appearance with the pretty murals in the tower, the old parlour an the simple chapel (ivory altar). Soon you will reach the very idyllic Völser Weiher Lake (1056 m). It is an artificial pond, which in former times was used as a carp pond by the Lords of Fiè-Colonna, who resided at Prösels Castle.
It is fed by a spring that rises at the foot of the Schlern and is called Schlernblut (Sciliar blood). With its water lilies and reed belt, it is probably one of the most precious landscapes in the Schlern region. At the southern shore of the lake leave path n. 1, follow n. 2 along the right bank and dive into the forest at its end. The path always leads through a dense forest, at first slightly downhill and then almost flat and brings you in a pleasant hike in about 1 hour to Hotel Salegg.
Here you can enjoy a wonderful view of Sieis am Schlern and in the background of the southern slopes of St. Valentin meadows with the little church of St. Valentin. The last part of this hike takes you along the road of Hotel Salegg to the valley station of the Seiser Alm Aerial Cableway. From there, follow trail n.2 to the centre of Seis am Schlern (1004 m)
