Turn-by-turn directions

From the centre of Leifers/Laives, at the crossroad, you walk along Via Pietralba for about 4 km into the Brantental valley until you cross the river and reach the "Zur Mühle" inn. Until here the road is asphalted. From the inn, path no. 12 climbs steeply northwards until after 10 minutes you reach the beautifully situated "Schwabhof" inn (approx. 700m). After a short ascent, a partly narrow but well-secured path leads through the sunny porphyry walls of the Brantental valley. After approx. 1 hour and approx. 900 metres altitude difference you reach a magnificent vantage point, where the view covers the entire Adige Valley. From there a wide path, shaded by chestnut trees, leads past the "Hocheggerhof", on to the "Brunnerhof" and then to the "Steinerhöfen", a double farm with chapel. The walk from "Schwabhof" to here takes about 2 hours.

Alternatively, it is possible to follow path no. 11 from the "Steinerhöfen" and get back to Leifers/Laives in about 1 hour.

Continue on path no. 12, under the "Alplerhof", along the forest road to the "Altebnerhof", then on to the Rechtebner inn and to Seit/La Costa (868m). The walk from the "Steinerhöfen" to here takes about 1.5 hours. Path no. 3 begins below the small chapel in Seit/La Costa and it takes approx. 2 hours to reach the Flavon Castle in Bolzano where you can stop for refreshments. In about 15 minutes you reach Haslach/Aslago from where you can take the bus (line 110) to get back to Leifers/Laives.

Getting there

Coming from the south:
Take the highway exit "Neumarkt/Auer-Egna/Ora" and follow the signs "Bozen/Leifers-Bolzano/Laives" for approx. 15 km. Then follow the signs for "Leifers Süd-Laives Sud" to reach the city centre.

Coming from the north:
Take the highway exit "Bozen Süd-Bolzano Sud" and then follow the signs for "Trient/Leifers-Trento/Laives" for approx. 15 km. After the tunnel connecting Bolzano and Laives, follow the signs for "Leifers Nord-Laives Nord" for approx. 1 km to reach the city centre.
