To the Hintere Schöneck
About the Kälberhütte to the rewarding three-thousand-metre peak
From St. Gertraud in Sulden (1844 m) on the eastern slope of the valley, always follow the signs to the "Kälberhütte" (calf hut) and marker 19 through the wooded slopes north-eastwards, climbing moderately in places and more steeply in others, up to the Kälberhütte (2248 m, bar; from Sulden just under 1:30 hours).), then on trail 25 over the grassy steep slopes up towards the Vordere Schöneck (of no tourist significance), now steeply but without difficulty up over stony slopes to the boulder ridge and briefly over it to the summit; from Kälberhütte 2:30 hrs, from Sulden 3:30 - 4 hours - the descent is safest via the described ascent route in approx. 2:30 hours (the descent to the Düsseldorfer Hütte is partly more exposed, but secured in tricky places).
