The impressive tour to Europe's highest marble quarry is very demanding, especially in terms of fitness. But the panorama and the descent over varied single trails compensate us for the effort of the ascent.

On wide forest paths and finally on white marble gravel, the way up from Laas is sweat-inducing and energy-sapping, with a constant gradient. We have to climb more than 1,300 metres until we finally reach the forecourt of the impressive Covelano marble quarry. But the agony of the long ascent is worth it. From up here we enjoy a fantastic view of the entire Vinschgau Valley. The descent via the Göflaner Alm offers a combination of flowing trails, gravel and forest paths. On the way, however, there are also stony and rooty sections that require our fullest concentration.

Turn-by-turn directions

Start of the tour in Laas. On the road in the direction of Tarnell. Take the forest road to the junction with the marble road. Via this to the Covelano marble quarry (2200 m). Take trail no. 3 to the Covelano alpine pasture (refreshments available) and continue to the cabbage fields. On trail no. 2b mostly as a trail past the Weiskaser Alm to the junction with the trail from the Haslhof. Keep left here (do not turn right to Haslhof). Follow the forest road to the start of trail no. 1 to the outskirts of Covelano (asphalted road at the end). From Covelano on the Via Claudia Augusta back to Lasa.

Especially on hiking trails, sufficient consideration for pedestrians should be a matter of course for us.

Schöne Tour. Aufstieg auf Teer/Waldwegen. Vom Steinbruch bis zur Alm etwas Traillig. Ein Zwei mal weicht das GPS gering ab. Aber mit etwas Logik passt es dann.
